Untuk mengetahui hukum takut kepada jin dengan segala jenis atau sebutannya, perlu kita perjelas terlebih dahulu kategorinya, ada dua macamnya:
Seperti takut kepada ular berbisa, hewan buas, perampok dll, demikian pula takutnya kepada jin tidak lebih seperti takutnya kepada hewan buas, perampok dll.
Syekh Muhammad bin Sholih Al Utsaimin rahimahullah menerangkan hukumnya,
Beliau melanjutkan,
Nabi Musa ‘alaihissalam pun pernah merasakan takut jenis ini. Allah ta’ala berfirman,
Saat Allah menunjukkan mukjizat Nabi Musa dihadapan para penyihir Fir’aun, ketika tongkat beliau berubah menjadi ular, melihat kejadian yang tidak wajar itu, Musa merasa ketakutan.
Adapun takut jenis kedua, yakni takut yang muncul karena keyakinan tak wajar kepada jin, ini bisa menyebabkan pelakunya jatuh dalam kesyirikan.
Batasan ketidak wajaran, dijelaskan dalam kitab Taisir Azizil Hamid (salah satu kita Syarah untuk Kitab at Tauhid karya Syekh Muhammad at Tamimi),

Untuk mengetahui hukum takut kepada jin dengan segala jenis atau sebutannya, perlu kita perjelas terlebih dahulu kategorinya, ada dua macamnya:
- Takut yang muncul dari tabiat (khouf thabi’i).
- Takut atas dasar keyakinan tidak wajar kepada jin.
Seperti takut kepada ular berbisa, hewan buas, perampok dll, demikian pula takutnya kepada jin tidak lebih seperti takutnya kepada hewan buas, perampok dll.
Syekh Muhammad bin Sholih Al Utsaimin rahimahullah menerangkan hukumnya,
الخوف الطبيعي والجبلي في الأصل مباح
Takut yang sifatnya tabiat, hukum asalnya mubah….Beliau melanjutkan,
لكن إن حمل على ترك واجب أو فعل محرم فهو محرم ، وإن استلزم شيئا مباحا كان مباحا
Namun, jika dapat menyebabkan seorang meninggalkan kewajiban atau
melakukan perbuatan haram, maka takut jenis ini berubah hukumnya menjadi
haram. Adapun jika berdampak memunculkan hal yang mubah saja, maka
hukumnya mubah. (Lihat: Majmu’Fatawa Ibnu ‘Utsaimin 10/648)Nabi Musa ‘alaihissalam pun pernah merasakan takut jenis ini. Allah ta’ala berfirman,
فَخَرَجَ مِنْهَا خَائِفًا يَتَرَقَّبُ ۖ قَالَ رَبِّ نَجِّنِي مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ
“Maka keluarlah dia (Musa) dari kota itu dengan rasa takut,
waspada (kalau ada yang menyusul atau menangkapnya), dia berdoa, ‘Ya
Tuhanku, selamatkanlah aku dari orang-orang yang zhalim itu’.” (QS. Al-Qashash : 21)Saat Allah menunjukkan mukjizat Nabi Musa dihadapan para penyihir Fir’aun, ketika tongkat beliau berubah menjadi ular, melihat kejadian yang tidak wajar itu, Musa merasa ketakutan.
وَأَلْقِ
عَصَاكَ ۚ فَلَمَّا رَآهَا تَهْتَزُّ كَأَنَّهَا جَانٌّ وَلَّىٰ مُدْبِرًا
وَلَمْ يُعَقِّبْ ۚ يَا مُوسَىٰ لَا تَخَفْ إِنِّي لَا يَخَافُ لَدَيَّ
الْمُرْسَلُونَ
“Dan lemparkanlah tongkatmu! ‘Maka ketika (tongkat itu menjadi
ular dan) Musa melihatnya bergerak-gerak seperti seekor ular yang gesit,
larilah dia berbalik ke belakang tanpa menoleh.’ Wahai Musa! Jangan
takut! Sesungguhnya di hadapan-Ku, para rasul tidak perlu takut,” (QS. an-Naml:10)Adapun takut jenis kedua, yakni takut yang muncul karena keyakinan tak wajar kepada jin, ini bisa menyebabkan pelakunya jatuh dalam kesyirikan.
Batasan ketidak wajaran, dijelaskan dalam kitab Taisir Azizil Hamid (salah satu kita Syarah untuk Kitab at Tauhid karya Syekh Muhammad at Tamimi),
أن
يخاف العبد من غير الله تعالى أن يصيبه مكروه بمشيئته وقدرته وإن لم
يباشره ، فهذا شرك أكبر ، لأنه اعتقادٌ للنفع والضر في غير الله
Seorang takut kepada selain Allah ta’ala bahwa dia mampu menimpakan
balak/mara bahaya dengan kehendak atau kemampuannya sendiri, meski dia
tidak mengupayakan balak/bahaya tersebut secara langsung. Takut yang
seperti ini hukumnya syirik besar. Karena dia telah menyakini ada yang
mampu memberi manfaat atau bahaya secara mandiri, selain Allah. (Lihat:
Taisir Azizil Hamid, halaman 28)Gambaran konkritnya, seperti menyakini bahwa jin mampu melakukan suatu hal yang sebenarnya tidak ada yang bisa melakukannya kecuali Tuhan Pengatur semesta alam.
