kemudian ummu salamah menggambarkan kalau rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam sempat melaksanakannya. umar kemudian mengatakan, “wahai rasulullah, allah telah mengampuni dosa – dosa kamu, baik di masa yang kemudian ataupun di masa yang hendak datang”
hingga nabi shallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam menanggapi,
أَمَا وَاللَّهِ إِنِّى لأَتْقَاكُمْ لِلَّهِ وَأَخْشَاكُمْ لَهُ
demi allah, sebetulnya saya merupakan orang yang amat bertaqwa kepada allah di antara kamu dan juga amat cemas kepada – nya”

dari umar bin khatab radhiyallahu ‘anhu, dia berkata “pada sesuatu hari nafsuku menggelora kemudian kucium istriku dalam keadaan berpuasa. sehabis itu saya tiba kepada nabi shallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam. ‘hari ini saya melaksanakan masalah besar; aku mencium istriku sementara itu saya berpuasa’ hingga rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam bersabda kepadaku, ‘bagaimana pendapatmu bila engkau berkumur dengan air kala berpuasa? ’ saya menanggapi, ‘tidak mengapa’. kemudian dia bersabda ‘maka gimana dengan mencium (bukankah begitu) ? ’ (hr. ahmad)
